A new trailer for the stop-motion co-op adventure Out of Words was shown during The Game Awards, offering a brand new look at the game’s handcrafted visuals and confirming its release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The trailer follows the game’s earlier debut at Summer Game Fest and highlights the creative process behind its distinctive animation style.

Out of Words is a cooperative platformer built entirely using stop-motion techniques. Every character, environment, and animation is physically crafted, giving the game a tactile look that sets it apart from traditional animated titles. The new footage shifts between behind-the-scenes shots of the puppets and in-game sequences, reinforcing the hands-on approach used throughout development.

A Handcrafted Co-Op Journey

The game stars Kurt and Karla, two mouthless characters navigating the strange and colorful world of Vokabulantis. Designed as a two-player experience, Out of Words can be played through online cross-platform co-op or local couch co-op. Progress depends on coordination and timing, with both characters needing to work together to solve puzzles and traverse the environment.

According to the developers, the story focuses on communication, connection, and the evolving relationship between the two leads. While the stakes involve the fate of Vokabulantis, the narrative also centers on smaller, personal moments that shape how Kurt and Karla interact with one another.

Positive Reception and Creative Collaboration

Out of Words is a collaboration between game developers Kong Orange, stop-motion studio WiredFly, and poet Morten Søndergaard, with publishing handled by Epic Games Publishing. The team has spoken about the detailed and time-intensive process behind the project, noting that each element is built by hand before being brought into the game.

The project has already drawn strong reactions from early previews, including positive responses from players and creators who experienced the game during its earlier showcase. That feedback has reinforced the studio’s approach as development continues toward release.

Platforms and Release Window

Out of Words is scheduled to launch in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. The new trailer marks the most substantial update since the game’s initial reveal and confirms its place among the growing lineup of upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games.
