HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version Luna III will officially launch on December 3, bringing major story updates, new characters and a fresh round of winter activities. The update introduces Durin, a newborn dragon with dual combat forms, and sets the stage for the “Moon-Prayer Night” celebration in Nod-Krai. The details come from HoYoverse’s latest press materials.

Version Luna III continues the main storyline as Nasha Town prepares for Moon-Prayer Night. It’s a big moment for the region, marking the Dameselette’s final evening before she returns to the moon. The festival brings games, stalls and a souvenir stamp book to fill out as you explore. But the celebration takes a turn when members of the Hexenzirkel show up. Alice and Nicole both make an appearance with news that the borders of Teyvat are becoming unstable, and strange phantoms have started appearing throughout Nod-Krai. You’ll team up with Albedo, Durin and the Wanderer to investigate. Completing the new Archon Quest also earns a bonus reward of 500 Primogems.

Durin, Jahoda and the Hexerei System Explained

Durin takes centre stage in this update as a new 5-star Pyro Sword wielder. With two distinct combat forms and a mix of support and damage output, he brings a flexible style to your team. His Simulanka-based form reduces enemy resistance and deals AoE Pyro damage. His Abyss-influenced form focuses on single-target hits and stronger reaction damage. His story quest dives deeper into his origins and connection to the Hexenzirkel.

Version Luna III also expands the new Hexerei characters system. By completing Alice’s “Witch’s Homework,” characters like Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl and Sucrose can unlock new abilities and altered Constellation effects. Teams with at least two Hexerei characters also activate “Hexerei: Secret Rite,” a powerful combat boost. Players can track all of these enhancements using a new in-game gadget called The Little Witch’s Dictionary.

A new 4-star character, Jahoda, also joins the roster. She’s an Anemo Bow wielder who focuses on team healing and can absorb Elements to deal matching damage. The Event Wishes for this version feature Durin, Jahoda and the return of Venti in phase one, with Varesa and Xilonen returning in phase two.

Events, Minigames and Miliastra Wonderland Updates

There’s plenty happening outside the story quests too. The Soulblazers’ Snowbound Journey event brings everyone back to Dragonspine with new winter-themed minigames and an exclusive 4-star weapon called Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow. Echoes for Klee and Albedo are also being added as rewards. More interactions with the Dameselette will be available in Silvermoon Hall, offering additional chapters to explore.

For players who enjoy creating custom content, the Miliastra Wonderland UGC module is getting a major update. A new Wonderland Resource Center supports resource sharing among creators, and a winter-themed Main Hall is being added for this version. Extra rewards include new actions, expressions and free pulls.

Genshin Impact continues to support play across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android and iOS, with cross-progression and Co-Op available. Version Luna III looks like a packed update with new characters, story beats and seasonal activities, making December a busy month for fans.
