PlayStation has introduced two new wireless headsets for its refreshed PS5 audio lineup. The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset launches in select markets this holiday season, while the more feature-rich Pulse Edge Wireless Headset follows in early 2027.
Both headsets use planar magnetic drivers, PlayStation Link, simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity, and AI-enhanced microphone noise rejection. Pulse Edge adds active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic, built-in PS5 game and chat balance controls, and several other features not included with PlayStation Pulse.
PlayStation Pulse Launches This Holiday Season
The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset uses custom planar magnetic drivers with four magnets per driver. PlayStation says the larger drivers improve sound separation and spatial accuracy while producing fuller, deeper bass.
PlayStation Link supports compatible devices including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac. A USB Type-C PlayStation Link adapter comes with the headset, while simultaneous Bluetooth support lets you stay connected to a compatible Bluetooth device at the same time.
For chat, PlayStation Pulse uses an integrated microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection to help filter background sounds. Volume controls are built into the headset, and rotating earcups allow it to lay flat for easier storage and portability.
PlayStation Pulse will be available in White and Midnight Black. PlayStation has not announced pricing or an exact release date yet, only that the headset will begin launching in select markets during the holiday season.
Pulse Edge Adds ANC and More Premium Audio Features
Pulse Edge uses eight magnets per planar driver, compared with four in PlayStation Pulse. PlayStation describes that as double the magnet volume and says the additional magnets help deliver deeper bass while retaining the clarity and detail of its planar driver technology.
Active noise cancellation is another feature exclusive to Pulse Edge within the new lineup. The headset includes a detachable boom microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection, along with a hidden microphone that remains available when the boom mic is removed.
Pulse Edge also puts PS5 game audio and chat balance controls directly on the headset. An audio and microphone jack is included, and PlayStation is bundling a carrying case for storage and transport.
Like PlayStation Pulse, Pulse Edge supports PlayStation Link and simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity. It will also be available in White and Midnight Black.
The two headsets won’t arrive at the same time. PlayStation Pulse begins rolling out in select markets this holiday season, while Pulse Edge launches starting in early 2027. Pricing, specific release dates, and pre-order details for both headsets are still to come.
