Helldivers 2 joins the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog today, August 12, 2026. If you have PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, you can now jump into Arrowhead Game Studios' co-op shooter through the service.
The timing lines up with the arrival of Devoid of Liberty, a free update that pushes the fight toward the Illuminate Void. It introduces new missions and enemies while expanding progression to 300 ranks. SEAF platoons can also join you during operations.
Helldivers 2 Arrives Before The Rest Of August's Game Catalog
Starting today, Helldivers 2 is included with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium through the Game Catalog. The rest of August's Game Catalog lineup arrives August 18, so Helldivers 2 gets a six-day head start. You'll still need an internet connection and a paid PlayStation Plus subscription to play on console.
The timing makes sense to me. If you're trying Helldivers 2 through the Game Catalog for the first time, Devoid of Liberty is already there waiting for you.
Devoid Of Liberty Heads Into The Illuminate Void
Devoid of Liberty takes you toward the Illuminate Void, where nearby planets have been permanently changed by strange mutations. Those effects become more significant as you get closer to the Void.
Some missions send you after Illuminate spires and gateways, while others have you gather reconnaissance or push inside Illuminate structures. Secondary objectives can send you after Void mutations or research materials. You may also get the chance to open another extraction zone and potentially get your squad out faster.
That last addition caught my attention. Having another possible extraction point could change how the end of a difficult mission plays out when things start going wrong.
New Threats And 300 Ranks Expand The Fight
Two of the new enemies are the Wretch and Crusher. The Wretch moves quickly and can overwhelm you if it gets close. The Crusher can absorb heavy damage and regenerate if you don't finish it off.
Progression now extends to 300 ranks, with additional rank names available along the way. SEAF platoons can also arrive by dropship during operations. They'll fight alongside your squad and can provide medical support with stims.
There's also a community challenge running through August 18. The Helldivers 2 community needs to eliminate 500 million enemies to unlock four Helldiver PlayStation avatars.
If you've been waiting for an easy way to try Helldivers 2, its PlayStation Plus Game Catalog arrival gives you that option starting today. If you're already playing, Devoid of Liberty adds a new part of the galactic war to tackle at the same time.
