I spent quite a bit of time in Tyndalston for my Samson: A Tyndalston Story review, and while the atmosphere is certainly there, the technical side clearly needs some work. It's a common story for ambitious open-world titles from smaller teams, and the developers at Liquid Swords aren't pretending otherwise.

Christofer Sundberg, the founder of the studio, shared a letter, addressing the state of the game at launch. He acknowledged the bugs you've likely run into and outlined the plan to get things on track. The first major step arrives with a patch on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Performance and Stability Fixes

The April 10 update focuses heavily on the stuttering that happens when the game loads new shaders. These performance fixes target PSO-related hitches, which should make moving through the city feel more consistent than it did on launch day.

The team also tracked down several crashes related to audio, animation, and vehicle destruction timers. If you've been seeing the game close unexpectedly when exiting or during heavy combat, these fixes are meant to address those frustrations.

Mission and Progression Updates

Several missions had issues that were stopping your progress or creating weird duplicates. The "Stitches for Snitches" mission will no longer multiply Suzy Red, and Dave Shultz will now spawn closer to you during his tailing job to prevent instant failures.

The team also addressed an issue where NPCs in the Ice Fish beatdown were capped at Level 1. These changes ensure the story moves along without the ways the game works actively fighting your progress.

Fixing the Smaller Details

The patch adds NPC fall damage as a safety measure and improves the range for picking up items on the ground. Character alignment is better when you lean on walls, and the update includes fixes for police sirens that occasionally stayed silent.

The team is even adding dedicated audio buckets for remote dialogue, so phone calls and radio chatter sound like they're coming from the right place rather than a generic speaker.

Liquid Swords Commits to the Future of Samson with Rapid Fixes

Launching an open-world game as a small studio is a massive task. Sundberg and his team expressed pride in what they built and admitted the current version isn't where they want it to be.

If you've been following my coverage of the game, including its arrival on GeForce NOW this week, you know I think there's a good experience buried under these technical hurdles. This Friday update is the first of many planned improvements for your time in Tyndalston.
