| Pokémon Champions brings official Video Game Championship rules to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. |
By Jon Scarr
It's Thursday, and that means we have a new batch of digital drops to dig into. The Nintendo Download for April 9, 2026 brings some heavy hitters right out of the gate. We get a brand new way to battle with our favourite pocket monsters, and Capcom just dropped a demo for their upcoming sci-fi action game. Let's get right into the biggest additions hitting the eShop.
Pokémon Champions Brings Official Tournament Rules Home
The competitive Pokémon scene just got a dedicated hub. Pokémon Champions drops you straight into the battle formats used at official Video Game Championship events. You build your team, train them up, and take them online for Single and Double Battles. The game pulls in the combat rules you already know and love, including Mega-Evolved Pokémon like Mega Dragonite.
If you ever wanted to test your strategies without running through a massive RPG campaign first, this is your chance. It's out now for the Nintendo Switch, and you get a free update to play it natively on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Pragmata Demo Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom's new sci-fi action-adventure launches on April 17, but you can try it right now. The Pragmata demo is live on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop. The game follows spacefarer Hugh Williams and an android named Diana as they try to break out of a lunar research station. You play as both of them at the same time.
Diana hacks enemy armour to create openings, and Hugh finishes them off with his weapons. I queued up the download immediately because the dual-character setup looks incredibly fun to control.
Three NES Classics and Super Mario Galaxy Rewards
If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, three Nintendo Entertainment System games just hit the retro library. You get the original arcade classic PAC-MAN, the 1990 action game Mendel Palace, and the brutal dungeon crawler The Tower of Druaga. If you use the Nintendo Music app, over 100 tracks from Splatoon 3 just hit the service as well, including songs from the Side Order DLC.
On top of the digital additions, the My Nintendo store restocked some excellent physical rewards. The Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary Pin Set is back, along with the Super Mario Bros. 3 Desktop Metal Display. We are massive Super Mario Galaxy fans in our house.
Now that the Super Mario Galaxy Movie is finally out, we've been on a huge Mario kick, so I'm grabbing those pins before they sell out again. You can also earn Platinum Points right now by collecting digital cards in the Nintendo Today app.
