| DREDGE+ and Unpacking+ lead a strong month of award-winning additions for Apple Arcade in April 2026. |
By Jon Scarr
April is turning out to be a great month for anyone who likes their mobile games with a bit more grit and a lot less of the usual micro-transaction nonsense. Apple Arcade is bringing a couple of genuine award-winners that fit right in across all your Apple devices.
I’ve always found that the best part of Apple Arcade isn't just the brand-new exclusives, but how it lets you catch up on the App Store hits you might’ve missed the first time around. April is doing exactly that by bringing two of the best indie games from the last few years to Apple Arcade.
Award-Winning Indies Headline April 2026 on Apple Arcade
Apple Arcade is getting started early this month with three new games. These aren't entirely new games, as they fall into the App Store Greats category, but they’re easily some of the best additions we’ve seen in a while. Apple Arcade is $8.99 CAD per month, and if you haven't signed up yet, you can start with a one-month free trial to check out these new launches.
DREDGE+
DREDGE+ by Black Salt Games is the big one here. It’s a haunting fishing adventure where you explore a remote archipelago, but there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface than just catching fish. This version is the complete edition, which means you're getting all the expansions from the jump. You're free to head out into the fog, dredge for treasure, and see if you can survive the weirder things waiting in the water. If you haven’t played it yet, the mood and the way it handles its mystery make it easy to lose track of time.
Unpacking+
Then there’s Unpacking+ from Humble Bundle, which is a much more relaxed experience. It’s a zen puzzle game about the familiar routine of taking possessions out of boxes and finding the right spot for them in a new home. You get to create a great-looking living space while learning clues about the life you're putting together. It’s won several awards for its cultural impact, and it’s a perfect fit for a quick session on your iPad.

My Very Hungry Caterpillar+
For the younger crowd, or if you’ve got kids like I do, My Very Hungry Caterpillar+ by Story Toys Limited also joined Apple Arcade this month. Based on the classic Eric Carle book, it lets you care for your own pet caterpillar as it grows and eventually turns into a butterfly. It’s a gentle, safe game that’s great for encouraging curiosity without any of the usual digital distractions.

Star Wars and Puyo Puyo Get Major Updates
Apple Arcade is also bringing some significant updates to games you might already have installed. Disney SpellStruck recently added a massive Star Wars crossover. It features new maps inspired by Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, and you can now unlock Darth Vader and Lando Calrissian as playable characters. It’s a fun way to bring some classic sci-fi energy to the word-puzzle gameplay.
Finally, Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a brand-new game mode called Puyo Puyo Garden. Starting on April 9, 2026, you can grow, nurture, and even battle your own unique Puyo. It’s the first time the series has tried something like this, and it adds a whole new way to interact with the characters outside of the standard puzzle matches.
Between these updates and the new "Plus" titles, April is looking like a solid month for anyone using Apple Arcade. Whether you're looking for spooky maritime mysteries or a relaxing afternoon of home decoration, there’s plenty to keep you busy.
