He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction now has a release date. Mattel and Limited Run Games have confirmed that the 2D brawler launches digitally on April 28, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The release is also timed to Masters of the Universe Day.

A New Trailer Puts Eternia Back In Motion

The new trailer puts the focus on retro pixel art, side-scrolling action, and a cartoon-inspired version of Eternia. Bitmap Bureau is developing the game in collaboration with Mattel, while Limited Run Games is handling publishing. That gives the project a team with real retro-action experience behind it from the start.

The setup stays close to classic Masters of the Universe material. Skeletor uncovers the Dragon Pearl of Destruction, an ancient relic powerful enough to throw Eternia into darkness, and joins forces with Evil-Lyn. From there, He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and Teela are pulled into a fight to stop that plan before Eternia falls apart.

The Roster, Stages, And Villains Are Built Around Classic MOTU

This is shaping up as a fast-paced arcade brawler with local co-op, and the starting lineup already covers some of the biggest names in the series. He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and Teela are all playable from the start, while She-Ra is waiting as an unlockable character in later playthroughs. Battle Cat is in the mix too, which is exactly the kind of addition this game needed.

The campaign also has a solid spread of classic Masters of the Universe locations. It runs across 12 stages, including the Royal Palace, the Vine Jungle, and Snake Mountain. On the villain side, the roster sticks to the characters most people will want to see, with Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, and Trap Jaw all confirmed, while names like Shokoti and the Shadow Beasts give it a few deeper pulls as well.

The Cartoon Influence Is The Main Draw Here

The best part of this announcement is how closely it sticks to the 1980s cartoon. The big pixel art, bright colours, and familiar Eternia locations all pull from that version of He-Man right away. It already looks closer to the original animated series than most licensed retro throwbacks, which helps it carve out a stronger identity early.

It also helps that this is not tied to just one platform. With the game arriving on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on the same day, it has a much better shot at reaching a wider crowd right away.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction’s April Launch Date Is Set

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction arrives on April 28, 2026, and the latest trailer gives a much better sense of the retro brawler Bitmap Bureau is putting together.
