Star Wars: Galactic Racer appeared during PlayStation’s latest State of Play with a new gameplay trailer that offered a closer look at how racing plays out across the Star Wars galaxy.

The footage focused on high-speed races on both new and familiar planets, introduced several characters tied to the story, and confirmed that podracing is back as a core part of the experience.

The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Racing in the Galactic League

The game centres on the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit operating in the Outer Rim. Control of the league currently sits with Kestar Bool, whose influence stretches beyond the track itself. With that grip starting to slip, league organizer Darius Pax turns to Shade, a lone pilot with a personal history tied to the Bool family.

The campaign follows Shade as they move through league events, taking on rivals and working to push back against the forces controlling the circuit.

Building a Racer That Fits Your Style

Racing isn’t locked to a single vehicle type. You can choose between several kinds of repulsorcraft, including landspeeders, skim speeders, speeder bikes, and podracers. Between races, Shade works with a mechanic named Hibi to upgrade and adjust vehicles using parts and tools earned through competition.

Progression runs through branching events, letting you approach the championship in different ways depending on which races you enter and how you build your vehicles along the way.

Multiple Ways to Race

Outside the story campaign, Galactic Racer includes several standalone modes. Online play supports up to 12 racers competing across different race types. Arcade mode focuses on quick play, including time trials and leaderboard challenges.

There’s also a Scenarios mode built around custom race conditions, ranging from practice runs on unfamiliar tracks to tougher races that put control and consistency to the test rather than raw speed.

The trailer mainly helps clarify how broad the racing setup is. Different vehicle types, multiple modes, and branching campaign paths all sit alongside each other, giving a clearer sense of how the racing structure is built.

After seeing this gameplay, where does Galactic Racer sit on your Star Wars radar?
