Genshin Impact is heading back to Mondstadt in its next major update. HoYoverse has confirmed that Version Luna V, titled Song of the Welkin Moon: Variation — Homeward, He Who Caught the Wind, launches on February 25 and returns to Mondstadt, the city where the journey first began.

Following the major story progression and large-scale changes introduced in Version Luna IV, this update returns to earlier locations and characters, with the long-awaited arrival of Varka anchoring the update.

Varka Finally Joins the Roster

Varka, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and Knight of Boreas, officially becomes playable in Version Luna V. He arrives as a 5-star Anemo claymore wielder, closing a long-running gap after years of references throughout Mondstadt’s early storylines.

His combat setup revolves around dual-wielding. One claymore consistently deals Anemo damage, while the second changes element based on party composition, shifting to Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo depending on his teammates. His abilities link enhanced normal attacks into repeated follow-ups and special charged attacks that don’t consume stamina, creating a steady flow of movement and sustained pressure across longer encounters.

A free weapon appearance for both of Varka’s claymores can be earned by progressing through his related content.

A Seasonal Event Built Around Familiar Ground

Instead of introducing a new region, Version Luna V centres its main event on Mondstadt and its surrounding areas. The Knights of Favonius host a series of activities that revisit early locations with small changes, built around recognition and replaying early moments.

These activities include exploring altered versions of past areas using the Spotter Kamera, character-focused interactions such as beverage crafting, gliding challenges, and combat trials that introduce Knight Shadows to help break enemy defences. Completing event challenges unlocks cosmetic rewards, including a crystal ball-inspired catalyst weapon appearance.

Additional mini-games expand the update further, with Kamera challenges spread across multiple regions, a defence-style mode, and new updates to Travelers’ Tales.

Event Wishes and Returning Features

Version Luna V’s Event Wishes roll out across two phases. The first features Varka alongside Flins, followed by Skirk and Escoffier in the second phase. The Mondstadt-themed Chronicled Wish also returns during the update.

Miliastra Wonderland receives new additions, including the official launch of its voice feature and related gameplay modes. The “Owl Envoy” Manekin and Manekina cosmetic set can also be earned through in-game events.

Version Luna V returns to Mondstadt and adds Varka to the playable roster, arriving after the story expansion and new gameplay additions introduced in Luna IV.
