WWE 2K26 has officially been announced, and this year’s entry brings a major mix of new match types, expanded modes, and a cover star who feels right at home in the spotlight.

CM Punk headlines the Standard Edition, marking his return to the cover after previously appearing on WWE ’13. The announcement confirms that WWE 2K26 launches March 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with early access available through premium editions starting a week earlier.

Alongside the reveal, 2K shared a long list of updates that touch nearly every part of the game, from gameplay and creation tools to modes like MyGM, MyRISE, and Universe.

CM Punk Takes Centre Stage

CM Punk’s return as the face of WWE 2K26 is framed around both his in-ring legacy and his influence on modern wrestling. He also headlines this year’s 2K Showcase, which focuses on key moments from his career, narrated by Punk himself.

The Showcase mode lets you replay major matches, step into fantasy scenarios, and take on a gauntlet designed to test skill and timing. It is positioned as one of the most personal Showcase modes the series has done, with a heavier focus on storytelling and presentation.

Punk described the experience as a chance to tell his story in his own words, giving players the opportunity to relive defining moments and explore matchups that never happened in real life.

New Match Types and Gameplay Changes

WWE 2K26 introduces four new match types, including I Quit, Inferno, Three Stages of Hell, and Dumpster matches. These additions expand the way matches play out and bring back stipulations that longtime fans have been asking for.

The gameplay updates go beyond new match types. Reversals and stamina have been reworked, interactive environments are more prominent, and new objects like shopping carts and thumbtacks can now be used during matches. Intergender matches are also available across core modes.

The presentation side has also been refined, with improved physics, updated commentary featuring Booker T and Wade Barrett, and interactive entrances that add more personality to matches.

Bigger Creation Tools and Deeper Modes

Customization continues to be a major focus this year. The Creation Suite now offers double the Create-A-Superstar slots, expanded image storage, deeper body morphing options, and improved hair and facial tools.

MyGM has been expanded with more match types, more superstars per show, and support for larger rosters. MyRISE introduces two new story paths, with choices that impact progression and unlocks even after the main story is complete.

Universe Mode also sees meaningful changes, including the return of the WWE Draft, improved Money in the Bank cash-ins, and more control over shows and storylines.

The Island and Online Features

The Island returns with a larger environment, new progression systems, and expanded customization. It is now available on all platforms, including PC, and includes new social spaces, quests, and gear.

MyFACTION continues to evolve with new chemistry mechanics, intergender matchups, and seasonal content updates. The new Ringside Pass replaces traditional DLC, offering unlocks through gameplay across multiple seasons throughout the year.

A Bigger Step Forward for the Series

This year’s entry brings a larger focus on customization, expanded modes, and long-requested changes. Between the updated gameplay systems, deeper career options, and a roster that spans multiple eras of wrestling, WWE 2K26 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious entries in the series.

With CM Punk front and centre and a wide range of updates across every mode, the game looks set to appeal to both longtime fans and players jumping back in for the first time in years.
