Pokémon is expanding into another family-focused space, with tonies introducing a new Toniebox release tied to the franchise. The company has confirmed a lightning yellow special edition Toniebox 2, created in partnership with The Pokémon Company International and inspired by Pikachu.

The new Toniebox is scheduled to launch globally in summer 2026, including in Canada and the United States. The release is also tied to Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, positioning this as a themed collaboration rather than a standard colour refresh.

Alongside the special edition Toniebox, four Pokémon-themed Tonies are also on the way, bringing Pokémon characters and audio adventures into the Tonies ecosystem.

A Toniebox Designed Around Pokémon

The lightning yellow colour is directly inspired by Pikachu, one of Pokémon’s most recognizable characters. The design keeps the familiar Toniebox shape and layout, but the new colour gives it a distinct look compared to the standard lineup.

tonies describes the release as part of a broader partnership with The Pokémon Company International, first announced in late 2025. The company says the goal is to bring two kid-focused brands together in a way that feels natural for how families already use the Toniebox at home.

Tobias Wann, CEO of tonies, said the collaboration was a natural fit, pointing to how both brands connect with kids through imagination and discovery. The timing also lines up with Pokémon’s anniversary year, giving the launch a clear theme.

Pokémon Tonies Also Launching Summer 2026

Along with the Toniebox itself, four Pokémon Tonies will launch around the same window:

  • Pikachu
  • Bulbasaur
  • Charmander
  • Squirtle

These figures will bring Pokémon audio content to the Toniebox platform, giving kids a screen-free way to listen and engage with familiar characters. Like other Tonies, the figures are designed to be placed on the box to start playback, keeping the experience simple and hands-on.

tonies says the Pokémon Tonies will be available across North America and other global markets when the lineup launches in summer 2026.

A Natural Fit for the Tonies Platform

Tonies has always focused on audio-first play, and Pokémon fits comfortably within that approach. The emphasis on characters and storytelling lines up well with how the Toniebox is used in many homes, making the partnership feel like a natural extension rather than a stretch into something unfamiliar.

For families already using Tonies, the Pokémon release adds a well-known franchise to the mix. For Pokémon fans who have not tried the Toniebox yet, this offers an easy entry point, especially with a design that ties directly to Pikachu. It also reflects how Pokémon continues to expand into family-friendly spaces beyond games and television.

The lightning yellow Toniebox 2 and the Pokémon Tonies are scheduled to launch in summer 2026, with tonies confirming global availability, including Canada and the United States. Pricing and exact release dates have not been announced yet, but more details are expected closer to launch.
