By Jon Scarr
Pokémon fans planning a trip to Japan now have another option to consider. MIMARU, Japan’s apartment-style hotel brand known for family-friendly stays, has expanded and refreshed its popular Pokémon Rooms, offering guests a stay built around Pokémon-themed décor, exclusive items, and small interactive details.
The updated Pokémon Rooms are now available at 10 MIMARU hotel locations across Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, with reservations open through November 2026.
A Pokémon-Themed Stay Designed for Fans
Originally introduced in 2019, the Pokémon Rooms quickly became a favourite among families and longtime fans. The newly updated version builds on that idea with a simple goal: more Pokémon, and more ways to experience them.
Each room features over 100 Pokémon integrated throughout the space, from the walls and ceiling to furniture, kitchens, and bathrooms. Rather than feeling like a themed overlay, the rooms are arranged in a way that makes Pokémon feel like a natural part of the space rather than simple decorations.
The layout encourages guests to look around, with Pokémon tucked into corners and unexpected places throughout the room.

What’s Inside the Pokémon Rooms
Each location includes a consistent set of themed elements while still offering a different look and feel depending on the hotel:
- Over 100 Pokémon featured throughout the room
- Themed zones, including Water-type Pokémon in the bathroom and food-loving Pokémon in the kitchen
- A giant Snorlax plush lounging on the bed
- Poké Ball–inspired décor, including tables, mugs, plates, and wall details
- Hidden Pokémon designed to reward exploration
The apartment-style layouts include kitchens, dining areas, and separate sleeping spaces, which makes them practical for families or groups staying more than a night or two.

Guests staying in a Pokémon Room also receive MIMARU-exclusive merchandise, including themed fabric bags and collectible items. Each set includes hidden Pokémon designs, giving visitors another reason to explore every detail of the room.
These items are exclusive to guests and aren’t available for separate purchase, making them a popular souvenir for Pokémon fans.
