| PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup for January 2026. |
By Jon Scarr
January’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalog update is a strong mix of big-name picks and smaller games that benefit from being part of the catalog. If you’re in the mood for survival horror, a big RPG you can settle into for weeks, or a few shorter games to jump into between longer plays, this month gives you plenty of options.
PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium members can start playing the full Game Catalog lineup on January 20. Premium members also get a classic bonus this month with Ridge Racer.
Big Adventures for Long Play Nights
If you’re looking for something you can really sink your teeth into, January has a couple of obvious picks. Resident Evil Village is still one of the best modern Resident Evil entries. It mixes in more action than earlier games, but it still feels like Resident Evil all the way through. The village itself is more than a backdrop. It’s something you’re constantly moving through and figuring out as you go, even as the game opens up.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth goes in a completely different direction. It’s a big RPG that moves between Honolulu and Tokyo, built around brawls, character moments, and side activities that are easy to get lost in.
Off-Road Exploration and Problem-Solving
Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is for nights when you want something slower and more methodical. It’s less about speed and more about planning routes, reading terrain, and using tools like drones and scanners to get through rough environments. You can play by yourself or with others, and it has that satisfying loop where every upgrade makes the next trip feel a little more manageable.
Horror With Two Very Different Flavours
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead brings a more grounded, story-driven kind of horror, built around surviving a world shaped by deadly creatures. It’s a single-player experience built around careful movement and paying attention rather than powering through encounters.

Darkest Dungeon II goes for dread through strategy. It’s a grim roguelike road trip where your party’s stress, relationships, and bad decisions can hit just as hard as any monster. If you like games that make you earn every bit of progress, this one can get under your skin fast.
The “What Even Is This?” Pick
The Exit 8 is a short, strange experience built around observation and pattern recognition. You’re stuck in an underground passageway, and the entire hook is noticing when something feels off. It’s the kind of game you can finish in a sitting, then immediately want to talk about because it messes with your head in a very specific way.
A Calmer Puzzle Game to Wind Down With
A Little to the Left is the tidy, satisfying counterbalance to everything heavier in this month’s lineup. It’s built around sorting and organizing everyday objects, with puzzles that are simple enough to relax with but clever enough to keep you engaged. Also, yes, the cat will mess with you, and it’s exactly the kind of small chaos that makes the game feel playful rather than frustrating.

Stylized Racing That Feels Different From the Usual
Art of Rally is a nice change of pace if you want racing that’s more about flow than realism. The top-down view, stylized presentation, and short stage format make it easy to jump into, whether you’re chasing leaderboard times or just enjoying the vibe of classic rally driving across a bunch of locations.
Retro Throwback for PlayStation Plus Premium Members
Premium members also get Ridge Racer, the original PlayStation classic enhanced with modern conveniences like rewind and quick save. If you grew up with early PlayStation racers, this is a fun nostalgia hit that still holds up as pure arcade-style driving.

PlayStation Plus Game Catalog January 2026 Highlights
This month’s Game Catalog lineup makes it easy to pick based on how you feel like playing. Resident Evil Village is there if you want something heavier to focus on, while Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth works well if you’re looking for a big RPG you can keep coming back to. If you’d rather take things slower, Expeditions is easy to play at your own pace.
The smaller games round things out nicely. The Exit 8 works well when you’re in the mood for something short and different, and A Little to the Left fits those nights when you just want something relaxed between longer games.
What’s the first download for you when the lineup goes live on January 20?
