| Max Caulfield and Chloe Price reunite in Life is Strange: Reunion, launching March 26, 2026. |
By Jon Scarr
Square Enix has officially revealed Life is Strange: Reunion, the next full-length entry in the series and the long-awaited return of Max Caulfield and Chloe Price. The game launches March 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Announced during a dedicated livestream, Life is Strange: Reunion brings the original duo back together for the first time since the events of the original game and Life is Strange: Double Exposure, setting up what’s being positioned as the emotional conclusion to their story.
Max and Chloe Reunite at Caledon University
Life is Strange: Reunion takes place at Caledon University, where Max is now working as a photography teacher. After returning from a short trip, she discovers the campus has been devastated by a massive fire that claims the lives of students and faculty. Max survives only because her Rewind ability returns, allowing her to escape the disaster.
Using that power, Max jumps back in time to uncover what caused the fire and how it can be stopped. But the consequences of rewriting the past once again begin to surface, especially when Chloe Price unexpectedly reappears — a direct result of the timeline shifts created in Life is Strange: Double Exposure.
For the first time in the series, players will control both Max and Chloe, switching between them as the story unfolds. Each character brings a different perspective and approach, shaping how events play out and how relationships evolve.

Two Playable Leads, Two Different Approaches
Max once again wields her signature Rewind ability, allowing players to undo decisions, manipulate conversations, and explore alternate outcomes. New twists on her power let her remain in the past after jumping through photographs, giving players more freedom to explore different timelines and consequences.
Chloe, on the other hand, approaches situations very differently. Her “Backtalk” ability returns, letting her push, provoke, and pressure characters in ways Max never could. While Max works within the rules, Chloe breaks them, opening up paths, information, and interactions that would otherwise be inaccessible.
The game’s structure leans heavily into this dual perspective, letting players experience the story from both sides as Max and Chloe work their way back toward each other.
A Story Built Around Choice and Consequence
As with previous entries, Life is Strange: Reunion focuses heavily on player choice. Decisions made throughout the story affect not just the outcome of the mystery surrounding the fire, but also the relationship between Max and Chloe themselves.
The game acknowledges past choices from earlier entries, including whether Chloe lived or died in Arcadia Bay, and uses those decisions to shape how the story unfolds. Rather than treating their reunion as a simple reunion story, the game leans into the emotional weight both characters carry after years of separation.
According to the development team at Deck Nine, this entry is designed to serve as a true conclusion to Max and Chloe’s arc, bringing their story full circle while still leaving room for player interpretation.

A Final Chapter for Max and Chloe
Life is Strange: Reunion is being positioned as the emotional closing chapter for Max and Chloe’s story. Rather than retreading old ground, the game looks to explore how time, trauma, and distance have changed them and whether they can truly move forward together.
If you’ve followed the series from the beginning, this feels like coming back to something familiar. And if you’re new, it still stands on its own as a story built around choice, consequence, and small moments that carry real weight.
Life is Strange: Reunion launches March 26 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

How did I not know about this?! Thank you for the info and for being so current on news! I’m surprised there is no announcement for a Nintendo Switch 1/2 release. Thankfully I have the collection on Switch and PS5; otherwise I would be disappointed that I would be forced to separate my collection. -Zarina
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I think it will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 maybe not at launch but I'm pretty sure it will. Maybe they are saving the announcement for the rumored February Nintendo Direct?
