| FUR Squadron Phoenix brings arcade-style space combat to Nintendo Switch and PC in February. |
By Jon Scarr
Raptor Claw has announced that FUR Squadron Phoenix will launch worldwide on February 18 for PC via Steam, followed by a Nintendo Switch release on February 25.
The game takes clear inspiration from classic on-rails shooters, with an obvious Star Fox vibe in how it handles arcade-style space combat. At the same time, it adds a run-based structure and upgrade progression that gives you a reason to keep coming back after the first clear.
A Familiar Style of Space Shooting With a New Structure
FUR Squadron Phoenix mixes fast arcade pacing with a roguelite loop built around repeatable runs and long-term upgrades. If you grew up with Star Fox, the core feel should click quickly, but the progression around it shifts the experience into something more replay-focused.
Runs are split between two mission types. Virtual simulation stages act as training environments with stylized visuals, while real-world combat missions put you into story-driven encounters and bigger set-piece moments.
As you keep playing, you can improve your ship’s damage, shields, and handling. Better performance also unlocks cosmetic rewards like new ship skins tied to high scores.
Weapons and Upgrades That Change Your Runs
Combat is built around responsive movement and a selection of secondary weapons that can change how you approach each run. The announced options include:
- Guided Bombs
- Multi-Missile Barrage
- Laser Beam
- Nuke Strike
If you like pushing for better results and seeing how different upgrades change the feel of combat, the combination of arcade action and progression should keep things interesting.
Release Dates, Platforms, and Language Support
FUR Squadron Phoenix launches on:
- February 18 on PC via Steam
- February 25 on Nintendo Switch
Raptor Claw says the game will support English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese at launch.
A One-Person Studio Building a Focused Arcade Game
Raptor Claw is a one-person studio based in Seville, Spain, with the developer handling design, programming, art direction, and publishing independently.
If you miss the feel of classic rail shooters like Star Fox but want something built around modern replay value, FUR Squadron Phoenix looks like one to keep on your radar ahead of its February launch.
