Nintendo has added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to its Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics lineup, giving Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members access to one of the most sought-after entries in the Fire Emblem series on Nintendo Switch 2.

Originally released on Nintendo GameCube in 2005, Path of Radiance takes place in the world of Tellius, where tensions between the human beorc and the half-human laguz threaten to erupt into full-scale conflict. The story follows Ike, a young mercenary who becomes caught in a much larger struggle as dark forces move to destabilize the fragile peace between the two races.

Path of Radiance is often remembered as a turning point for the series. It blends classic grid-based tactical combat with a stronger narrative focus, fully voiced cutscenes, and 3D battle maps. The game also features Fire Emblem’s well-known permanent death system, meaning fallen units are gone for good, pushing careful planning and smart positioning on every map.

With its arrival on Nintendo Classics, Path of Radiance becomes far more accessible than it has been in years. Original GameCube copies have long been scarce and expensive, making this digital release a significant moment for fans who missed it the first time or want to revisit one of the series’ most respected entries.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is available now as part of the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members on Nintendo Switch 2.
