Esports Canada, working alongside OverActive Media, has opened a public community call as part of a bid to become the organizing body for Team Canada at the 2026 Esports Nations Cup. The announcement was shared by Neil Duffy, Chief Commercial Officer at OverActive Media, and invites members of the Canadian esports community to take part in an open discussion around representation and structure.

The call is open to Canadian players, organizers, tournament staff, and community members, with the goal of gathering feedback on how Canada could be represented at the Esports Nations Cup. The session will also outline the proposed structure behind the bid and how community input will factor into the process.

What the Community Call Covers

The open call is being hosted by Esports Canada in partnership with OverActive Media and focuses on how Canada approaches national representation at the Esports Nations Cup.

According to the registration details, the session will cover:

  • The structure behind Canada’s Esports Nations Cup application
  • How equity, integrity, and transparency factor into the process
  • A collaborative approach to national representation

When the Call Takes Place

The Open Community Call is scheduled for:

  • Date: Thursday, January 22
  • Time: 7:00 PM ET
  • Location: Virtual

Anyone interested in taking part can register through the official community sign-up form.

The Next Phase

The Esports Nations Cup is expected to feature multiple games and national teams, making it one of the more visible international esports events on the calendar. This open call gives Canadian players and organizers a chance to help shape how the country is represented before plans are finalized.

Rather than locking decisions behind closed doors, the session is designed to bring community voices into the process early, offering a clearer picture of how Canada’s esports ecosystem could take part in the event.

This is still an early step in the process, and the community call does not confirm Canada’s participation or selection at this stage.
