December is shaping up to be a fun month for anyone with a Nintendo Switch 2. The lineup covers action, western storytelling, sci-fi adventure, farming life simulation, fantasy role-playing, and even a racer built for casual laughs. You can dig into something big or pick up a lighter choice between gatherings.
There is a nice spread this time around. You get major franchises alongside quirky picks, which means you can mix serious sessions with quick laughs. So let’s take a look at what you can dive into on Nintendo Switch 2 this month.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Marvel Cosmic Invasion brings fast pixel-art action to Nintendo Switch 2. It leans into classic beat ‘em up energy while letting you hop between planets. If you like flashy combos and arcade pacing, this one feels like an easy holiday pick. Read my review of Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is live as well. This version includes touchscreen menu interaction and hideout building, giving it a Switch 2 twist. Seeing an Assassin’s Creed sandbox running in a portable format still feels surreal in a good way.
Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption is now available, bringing John Marston’s hunt for his former gang to Nintendo Switch 2. Experiencing a sweeping western like this on a handheld device is still cool. December feels like the perfect time to settle in for its long, dusty ride.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond has also arrived. Samus responds to a distress call that leads her to a mysterious new world. First-person exploration returns, making it one of the biggest releases you can grab this season. Read my Metroid Prime 4 Beyond on Nintendo Switch 2 review.
Octopath Traveler 0
Octopath Traveler 0 is available now. It follows a saga built around divine rings and revenge. Fans of earlier entries will likely be happy to have a new tale to chew on through the holidays. Read my Octopath Traveler 0 review on Nintendo Switch 2.
Farming Simulator: Signature Edition
Farming Simulator: Signature Edition launches December 9 on Nintendo Switch 2. This version brings farming life to portable play, giving you fields to manage, crops to grow, and modern machinery to run. If you like something slower where you can unwind and watch your work grow, this could be a comforting winter pick. I enjoy how these games let you zone out and chip away at goals, especially when you want something calmer after heavier releases.
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
Ultimate Sheep Raccoon launches December 9. It mixes obstacle building with chaotic racing and trick opportunities. This one sounds built for couch gaming nights when you want something messy and unpredictable.
Nintendo Switch 2’s December Lineup and What I’m Watching
It honestly feels like an easy month to find something on Nintendo Switch 2 that fits your mood. You get the big releases, familiar favourites, a farming slow-down option, and even a game that looks like pure goofing around with friends.
I already have reviews up for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Octopath Traveler 0. So, if you want a deeper read on how those landed, you can check those out. I am really interested in Assassin’s Creed Shadows just to see how the Nintendo Switch 2 handles that kind of sandbox. And Ultimate Sheep Raccoon looks like the title you throw on during holiday hangouts just to laugh at the mess on screen.
If something here caught your eye, adding it to your wishlist now saves you from forgetting later. So, what’s your first December pick on Nintendo Switch 2?
