| Dead Man’s Party brings Knives Out’s murder mystery style to a Netflix party game. |
By Maggie Scarr
Netflix has released a new party game tied to the murder-mystery world of Knives Out. Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game is now available to play through Netflix on connected TVs, devices, and the web, using your phone as the controller.
A Knives Out–Style Party Game Built for the Couch
Dead Man’s Party is a social-deduction party game where a murder has taken place and everyone is a suspect. Netflix describes it as being in the same family as games like Mafia or Werewolf, with some Clue-style energy mixed in, but without physical pieces or complicated rules getting in the way.
Matches last just over 10 minutes and support between four and eight players. That short runtime makes it easy to play a few rounds without turning it into a long commitment. You can jump in, make accusations, defend yourself, and be done quickly, which works well for mixed groups.
The Knives Out theme fits naturally. The films thrive on suspicion, clever misdirection, and sudden reveals, and that tone carries over nicely into a party game where reading people matters as much as understanding the mechanics.
Built by The Game Band, Not Just a Movie Tie-In
Dead Man’s Party was developed by The Game Band, an indie studio known for Where Cards Fall and the long-running phenomenon Blaseball. The team is primarily based in Los Angeles, with collaborators spread around the world.
Earlier this year, the studio confirmed its involvement, describing the project as its own take on social deduction and sharing genuine enthusiasm for working with the Knives Out series. That kind of care matters for party games, where shallow design becomes obvious quickly once people start playing.
The game’s launch also follows the recent release of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery on Netflix, giving fans another way to engage with the franchise beyond just watching the movies.
A Lightweight Party Game That’s Easy to Try
Dead Man’s Party isn’t trying to be something you sink hours into. It’s built around quick rounds, shared screens, and groups of people who may not normally sit down to play games together.
Because it runs directly through Netflix and uses phones as controllers, it’s easy for pretty much anyoneto pick up and play.
Whether you’re a Knives Out fan or just curious about Netflix’s latest game, Dead Man’s Party: A Knives Out Game is a low-commitment way to jump into a social deduction experience without much effort.
