Jurassic World Evolution 2 review

Reviewed by Carmelo Cianciotta

After playing Jurassic World Evolution in 2018 I immediately fell in love with the game. Growing up I was a huge fan of Theme Park and Theme Hospital; now throw Dinosaurs into the mix it will bring endless possibilities. I was extremely curious about what they changed, added, and improved to make a better experience.

Revamped Options

While starting campaign mode we get a slow first look on how things are done. Even if you have never played Jurassic Evolution before, you can learn rather easily. Right away I noticed changes to several aspects of the game and it’s for the better. Jurassic World Evolution 2 brings us more options on Dinosaurs than ever before.

Science is Key to Success

In Jurassic World Evolution 2 we are able to hire scientists with each having a different skill set. Scientists are important for growth and upgrades for your park. While using your employed scientists you can run expeditions where you can live capture Dinosaurs. In the first Jurassic game you unlocked fossils, which is one change in the campaign. Scientists can also research upgrades and unlock new medicine, enclosures, and buildings.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 also added a new mobile medical unit where you can heal dinosaur’s and even transport them to a bay for major injuries. Also, be sure to keep an eye on your scientists as they need rest, overworking them will have consequences.

Dino Fun for Everyone

Jurassic World Evolution 2 has all the dinosaur’s we loved from the first game with many more options in this installment. Building a Dome for flying dinosaurs was new and enjoyable to me, it was great to see them incorporate new options. We can also have water dinosaurs as well. It’s important to use Rangers for status checks to make sure your Dino’s have everything they need to be happy.

Dinosaurs are beautifully done with great detail, which makes them enjoyable to watch and move around. I enjoy controlling a Ranger to drive around taking pictures and watching these awesome creatures move around.

A big upgrade for me in Jurassic World Evolution 2 was the ability to power buildings. In Jurassic World Evolution we had to connect power lines to a generator which can get annoying, not the case in this game. When you select a power generator it highlights the area where it will power making it easy and convenient. One thing to keep an eye on the generators need to be refilled with fuel every so often.

Smooth gameplay with life like action

Jurassic World Evolution 2 has a very smooth polished feel to it. Mechanics are not overly complicated and once you start it’s easy to grasp. Simulation builders are one of my favourite game types and Jurassic World Evolution 2 does not disappoint. Objectives are clearly defined for the player, with easy-to-read menus. Jurassic World Evolution 2 will easily provide you with hours of entertainment.

Hear me roar

Jurassic World Evolution 2 features some decent voice acting as it did in the first game. Sounds in the park are really realistic from dinosaurs cries to incoming storms at the park. There is nothing like the sound of two dinosaurs battling to the death.

As I mentioned before Jurassic World Evolution 2 was beautifully done with great detail on the creatures. Each species was uniquely done and done well. Also, items we can add to the environment such as rocks, trees, bait make the park even more life like. It’s a prehistoric beauty which gets better as you unlock more in the game.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is my favourite simulation building game to date

Jurassic World Evolution 2 does a lot of things right, it’s fine tuned from the first game. With the easy game play and so much to do it’s a must play for anyone not only Jurassic Park fans. Jurassic World Evolution 2 brought us so many more dinosaurs and ways to house them.

With the stunning visuals and sound it makes it easy to lose track of the hours spent in the park. Jurassic World Evolution 2 has easily turned into my favourite simulation building game to date. I really hope they bring us Jurassic World Evolution 3.
