WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship review on Xbox Series X

Reviewed by Carmelo Cianciotta

Get those engines revving! Upon starting WRC 10 we are greeted with a tutorial like most games. I was impressed at the graphics when I started the game. We are given several tasks to prepare us for the World of racing. I have to admit I am terrible at these games, but still enjoy them. First mission is fairly easy, press the gas. As you progress you learn more techniques for the field.

Will Campaign mode cross the finish line? Or crash?

I started a new game; I won’t tell you what difficulty level I chose. Here we make our avatar by choosing a name, nationality, and co-driver name. I was a little disappointed that my last name would not fit by one letter! Arg. Naturally my co-driver was none other than Jon Scarr, but I chose to make him Italian like me. After this is complete, we are brought to the main hub and there is a ton of items and useful information here.

WRC 10 is totally customizable, you can even manage your crew. The top center features the money you have this is important for upgrades. Next to your name on the top left is your player level. Along the left side is where all the features and menus are. Here you can check your calendar, start a race, upgrade and much more.

Campaign mode is where most players will spend their time, and rightfully so it’s extremely interesting. I have played several other racing games in the past. Let's see how this one stacks up.

Pedal to the metal

To date, WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship is the most fun I have had in a racing game. Vehicle physics are absolutely brilliant, it’s how a car should handle. I had a hard time making turns, as racing is not my strong suit. I never gave up and got better with time like in anything we do. WRC 10 has all new tracks and so many cars to choose from. Vehicle customization is something I really enjoy doing. I found myself pressing Y a lot on the controller (sets you back on the track) but hey that’s okay I have the need for speed.

Pistons Pumping

Vehicles handle really well and do what you would expect a car to. Race tracks are life-like with great detail to trees and other surroundings. The team did an amazing job with polish on the visual aspects of the game. Vehicle’s make sounds as they should, I enjoy the purr of engines. Unfortunately for me I am so bad it’s the sound of crashing.

WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship final thoughts

Racing fan or not WRC 10 is a must play. I am truly impressed with the quality of this game. Sometimes I race just to see the trees and other visuals they give us. Vehicle physics are the best I experienced in any racing game. Take the keys and race your way to the championship! Happy Racing.

Pros

  • Vehicle Physics
  • Amazing Visuals
  • The hub screen is well designed

Cons

  • Co Driver can get annoying
