Tails of Iron Launches Today on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC

2021 seems to be the year of fantastic and highly anticipated indie games, and that trend continues today with the launch of Tails of Iron across most platforms. Tails of Iron is a 2D side scrolling action adventure RPG that sees you playing as a young rat looking to rid the kingdom of the frog filth. The frogs have infiltrated your home, killed your king, and destroyed your property. Can you push through the games punishing combat to rid the world of the infestation and return life to normal?

We've had the privilege of playing a lot of Tails of Iron on Nintendo Switch, and the game is absolutely gorgeous, with perfectly tuned music and sound effects throughout. Here is just a bit of what the development team says players can expect when loading up the game:

"Tails of Iron is an epic RPG Adventure with punishingly brutal combat. As Redgi, heir to the throne, you must embark on a perilous quest to reclaim your Kingdom. Explore a deceivingly charming world. Assemble a band of brave companions. Banish the merciless Frog clan!"

When they say to prepare to punshing combat, they really mean to prepare for punishing combat. What we experienced when playing Tails of Iron is an incredibly difficult, albeit fair experience that will have you playing certain sections over and over again. Thankfully, a plethora of save spots means you're never too far behind when a specific area needs to be played again. Here is a bit more on what to expect from the combat:

"From frog zombies to gargantuan grubs - and everything in-between - the Kingdom is awash with danger. To overcome each perilous encounter, you’ll need to study your opponent’s attacks and react accordingly! Thankfully, there’s a range of deadly abilities at your disposal, including parry bashes and fatal executions, not to mention ranged attacks with your nifty bow and arrow."

There isn't a ton to learn about this games combat, thankfully. You can dodge attacks, shoot a bow, slash a sword, and parry an attack. But it's the timing that will be the trickiest, and being strategic in the placement of your character. You'll need to carefully plan for air attacks (arrows) and ground attacks (swords and spears), otherwise death will find you quickly.

There is a ton to love in Tails of Iron, and if you are looking for a charming and difficult experience to test your strategic whit, than this is the title for you. You can see just a bit of our experience with the game here:
